Epic
The first sat of each halving epoch: the first sat of a block whose height is a multiple of 210,000, other than every 1,260,000th.
How a sat qualifies
The block subsidy halves every 210,000 blocks. Ordinal theory makes the first sat of each halving epoch epic: the sat with offset 0 in a block h where h is a multiple of 210,000.
Tiers are exclusive. Every sixth halving coincides with a difficulty adjustment (a multiple of 1,260,000 blocks, a cycle), and that first sat is legendary instead; at block 0 it is mythic. Of the 33 multiples of 210,000 that still pay a subsidy (0 to 6,720,000), six are cycle starts, leaving 27 epics.
The epics so far
- Block 210,000: sat 1,050,000,000,000,000, also a Centasat uncommon.
- Block 420,000: sat 1,575,000,000,000,000, also a Decasat uncommon.
- Block 630,000: sat 1,837,500,000,000,000, also a Kilosat uncommon.
- Block 840,000: sat 1,968,750,000,000,000.
Each is also an alpha, the first sat of a whole bitcoin. An epic is never counted as uncommon or rare.
Its neighbour
The sat just before each epic is the last sat of the previous epoch: a black epic.
