Pizza
The 1,000,000,000,000 sats (10,000 BTC) that paid for the pizzas, listed as 825 sat ranges mined in blocks 24,097 to 56,787.
How a sat qualifies
A sat is a pizza sat when its number lies in one of the 825 ranges of the Pizza list. Together they hold exactly 1,000,000,000,000 sats: the 10,000 BTC paid for the pizzas. The list is the sats of one output, a1075db55d416d3ca199f55b6084e2115b9345e16c5cf302fc80e9d5fbf5d48d:0, created in block 57,043 (the transaction), as ordinal theory numbers the sats that flowed into it.
Those sats were mined earlier, in 211 blocks from 24,097 to 56,787: the whole 50 BTC subsidy of 150 of them and part of the others. The first pizza sat is 120,485,000,000,000, the first sat of block 24,097; the last is 283,939,999,999,999, the last sat of block 56,787.
What the site tracks
The index does not follow every pizza sat one by one. It tracks the pizza sats that are special in another way, and counts them in five categories:
- Pizza uncommon: the first sat of a block
- Pizza black: the last sat of a block
- Pizza alpha: the first sat of a bitcoin
- Pizza omega: the last sat of a bitcoin
- Pizza palindrome: a sat number that reads the same both ways
Why collectors care
Pizza sats are tied to one well-known payment, and the special sats among them are a fixed set: every pizza sat was mined long ago, so no new block adds to any of the counts below.
How many
201 pizza uncommons, 198 pizza blacks, 10,002 pizza alphas, 10,000 pizza omegas and 100,016 pizza palindromes exist. Of the uncommons, 18 sit in extracted outputs; of the palindromes, 6,179.
