Block 78
Any sat mined in block 78, sats 390,000,000,000 to 394,999,999,999: the block mined by Hal Finney. Its alphas, omegas and palindromes are tracked.
How a sat qualifies
Block 78 paid a 50 BTC subsidy, 5,000,000,000 sats. At 5,000,000,000 sats per block, its sats are sats 390,000,000,000 (78 × 5,000,000,000) to 394,999,999,999. Every sat in that run is a Block 78 sat. Block 78 lies in the vintage range (blocks 0 to 999), so its sats are vintage too.
Why collectors care
The site's description is short: "Block 78, mined by Hal Finney". It is one of the few single early blocks the site names on its own, with Block 9, Block 286 and Block 666.
What is tracked
Unlike Block 9, Block 78 is not tracked whole: the index follows only its sats that are special on their own, in three rows:
- Block 78 alpha: the 50 sats that start one of its bitcoins.
- Block 78 omega: the 50 sats that end one.
- Block 78 palindrome: the 5,000 sat numbers in it that read the same backwards.
Its first sat (390,000,000,000) is an alpha and also an uncommon; its last (394,999,999,999) is an omega and also a black sat. A plain Block 78 sat that is none of these is in no Block 78 row, and there is no Block 78 collection of its own.
Part of block 78 also lies in the Silk Road ranges: 9 of its alphas, 9 of its omegas and 1,085 of its palindromes are Silk Road sats as well.
How many
All of these are mined.
